Digital Detox Research

  • Participants will set aside their smartphones for three weeks and use the Light Phone II designed with only essential functions.

    Basic tools include texting, calling, alarm, notes, directory and directions.

  • This research seeks to understand how a temporary digital detox influences well-being, social connections, and daily habits.

  • Our team will provide you with a Light Phone II, either in person or via mail delivery.

    Participants will take part in four brief interviews via zoom. One initial and three reflections on their experience.

    All responses remain anonymous, and the focus is on authentic insights rather than performance or expectation.

    • Three Weeks, One Phone → You’ll set aside your smartphone and use the Light Phone II only.

    • Keep It Simple → Try not to fill the space with extra screen time on other devices.

    • Weekly Check-ins → We’ll meet once a week for a short conversation to reflect on your experience.

    • Be Honest → There’s no right or wrong experience here. The goal is your real, unfiltered, and authentic experience.

    • Know the Limits → The Light Phone II doesn’t have many features, such as a live a GPS, social media, or email.
